FedEx's UK portfolio covers four domestic timed services  from next day before 9am through to a 2–3 day economy option  and a full range of international shipping services for parcels up to 68kg. Domestic rates are account-based and not publicly listed. International Priority to Western Europe starts at £80.63 per 0.5kg under contracted pricing.

Unlike Royal Mail, FedEx doesn't publish a standard domestic rate card. Domestic pricing is account-based. You get your rate when you open a business account or negotiate a contract.

A note on additional costs: FedEx applies a remote area surcharge on deliveries to certain postcodes  Scottish Highlands, Scottish Islands, Northern Ireland, and other rural areas. These aren't always visible upfront, so factor them in when comparing cost against Royal Mail, which has no such surcharge. Hidden fees like these can shift the value calculation on domestic routes.

FedEx International Rates

FedEx international rates are contracted rather than publicly listed. The figures below are from the FedEx UK Export Rate Guide (January 2026) and apply to customers under specific pricing agreements.

Rates shown are for Zone R (Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands)  the most common export destinations from the UK. FedEx offers international services to 220+ countries, making it one of the more extensive options for global shipping.

Rates for farther destinations (Italy, Iberia, Nordic countries) sit in higher zones and cost more. Worldwide international deliveries start from around £61–£115 for 0.5kg depending on the zone. All FedEx rates exclude VAT. Fuel surcharge and other ancillary charges apply on top.

For SMBs: FedEx international is hard to justify on cost for standard parcel weights under 2kg. It makes sense when delivery speed is the deciding factor of a customer waiting on an urgent order, or goods where next day delivery to Europe protects a sale or maintains customer loyalty.

Royal Mail builds compensation into its Tracked services by default  £75 on Tracked 24/48, up to £2,500 on Special Delivery. FedEx's standard liability is limited under international carriage conventions; you pay an additional fee per $100 USD of value to raise it.
